This is Dustin Day, the superintendent of Waverly. I have just been informed that one of the confirmed positive tests for the Coronavirus for Sangamon County was present during the Career fair that our sophomores attended at Lincoln Land Community College on Wednesday, March 11th along with other area schools. This is not to alarm you, but make you aware that conceivably with our students all being in close proximity, that students of Waverly could have potentially been exposed. I cannot encourage you enough to take extreme precaution and monitor your child’s health at this time. The CDC’s current symptoms include, but are not limited to: Fever, cough, and shortness of breath. People may become ill 2-14 days after exposure. In addition, the meal services have started today. If you cannot make one of the drop off points, please call the school for other arrangements. In addition, the extended time of Monday put a burden on some parents to obtain medicine. I am encouraging all parents to pick up your child’s medication. Lastly, I will do my very best to be transparent with all that we are doing and all information that arrives. As always, please review our website and Facebook pages for information. Thank you and have a good day.
